A low vision organisation whose own website is hard to use has failed before it started. Here is our standard, where we stand against it, and how to tell us when we fall short.
Last updated 8 August 2026.
DriveAble Foundation is committed to making this website, and the rider application it links to, usable by people with low vision, blindness, and other disabilities.
This is not a compliance exercise for us. Our founder has low vision. Our dispatch software is built so that a person with significant vision loss can operate it. If our own website does not work, nothing else we say is credible.
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. That standard also satisfies WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which applies to recipients of federal financial assistance under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
We audited every page of this site on 8 August 2026 using automated testing against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, plus a manual keyboard pass and reflow testing.
The automated audit now reports zero violations across all 21 pages of our own code. We started with 389 and fixed them.
What we fixed: text contrast throughout, navigation markup that confused screen readers, a form field with no label, links that relied on colour alone, and touch targets that were too small. We also added full support for reduced-motion preferences, so animations are switched off for anyone who has asked their device to do that.
Verified by hand: every interactive element is reachable by keyboard with a visible focus indicator, pages reflow without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels and at 400 percent zoom, and pinch-to-zoom is enabled on every page.
What is still outstanding. Automated testing catches roughly a third of real accessibility problems. We have not yet completed a full screen-reader review, and we have not had an independent third-party audit. Our embedded YouTube video contains accessibility issues in YouTube's own player code that we cannot fix. We will update this page as those are addressed.
We would rather tell you exactly where we are than claim a badge.
Tell us. We will fix it, and we will tell you when it is fixed.
Email jerrod@driveablefoundation.org with what page you were on and what happened. Plain description is fine. You do not need technical language.
If a barrier on this site stops you from registering for a ride, contact us any way you can and we will complete your registration for you. No one should be excluded from transportation by a website.
Anything on this site is available by phone, by email, in large print, or read aloud to you. Ask and we will provide it in whatever format works.
